Two basic technologies for producing multilayer metal-polymer pipes
There are two basic technologies for producing multilayer metal-polymer pipes:
· Combined (English). According to this technology, the aluminum foil is molded into a pipe, the edges of the pipe are lapped and welded with ultrasonic welding. Further, simultaneously, the layers of adhesive and polymer are extruded onto the inner and outer surfaces of the aluminum tube.
· Consecutive (Swiss). In the first stage of this technology, the inner polymer tube is extruded, cooled, then the adhesive layer is extruded, and aluminum foil is adhered to the inner tube, the edges of the aluminum pipe are joined end to end, and welded with laser or TIG welding, and then the outer layers of the adhesive and polymer are extruded.
It has long been debated about which technology of production of multi-layer metal-polymer pipes is better, combined or sequential.
Technical features of these technologies we will discuss in another article, for the manufacturer of pipes it is important to compare the cost of multilayer pipes. Finding real data in open sources is difficult, but they are easy to calculate based on the technical characteristics of the equipment and the design of the pipe.
